Maria Lora writes memoir and literary fiction shaped by everyday landscapes, family history, and the quiet details that hold a life together. Her debut essay collection, Field Notes from the Hill Country, was a regional bestseller and led to readings from BookPeople in Austin to independent shops across Texas and the Southwest. Before writing full time, Maria spent a decade teaching community college composition and leading memoir workshops for first-time authors. She speaks at libraries and literary festivals on turning lived experience into narrative without losing the truth on the page. Maria lives in Austin, Texas, where she is at work on a novel set along the Colorado River.
